Essence are known for being affordable whilst providing us with some pretty good products including their brow gel, their wide array of mascaras and their beautiful blushes. But before this launch, they only had three different foundations in their collection including a mousse, a long-lasting one and a healthy glow foundation so this one is quite unique in terms of what it offers. Plus, the price point is higher than the rest, they all retail for £3.80 whereas this one will cost you £4.50 for 30ml of product.

The shade range is average, a bit limited, but for Essence, this is a big step up from their three usual light, medium and dark shades they normally have. The shades are intended to be mixed together to find the ultimate perfect shade just for you, which is super easy to do.  To find my perfect shade I mix very vanilla and a bit of cool porcelain together with the odd drop of funny ivory.

10 # Cool Porcelain , 20 # Very Vanilla , 30 # Funny Ivory , 40 # Pretty Beige , 50 # Perfect Honey , 60 # Crazy Caramel , 70 # Sweet Almond , 80 # Hot Chocolate , 90 # Lovely Mocha

The packaging is very similar to Glossier's skin tint and MAC's face and body with the squeezy tube dropper like-way of applying it to your skin. It's definitely not my favourite packaging ever but it works due to the thin consistency meaning you aren't having to use muscle work to get the product out.

This foundation claims to leave you with a flawless, matte look to your skin whilst being waterproof at the same time. It is a light coverage foundation but you have the ability to build it up with a second and third layer.

I was pleasantly surprised by this foundation, although I knew I was expecting a light coverage, it made my skin look really smooth and usually I find light coverage foundations can sometimes go a bit patchy on my skin but I didn't have a problem with this one. It didn't accentuate my pores or cling to any dry patches but, the one thing it didn't cover was the redness on my cheeks. I just went in with a bit of concealer and that blended in well with no issues. In regards to the finish, I found that it gave my skin a naturally radiant glow from within kind of look which I quite liked. After a six-hour shift, I noticed that my nose started to look a bit cakey and a bit had disappeared on my chin. But, overall I'm quite impressed by this foundation!

Essence's new foundation has definitely added something new to the drugstore market and it's ideal for those of you who just want a light finish whether you're going to the shop or school. What do you think of this foundation or is it one of your holy grails already? Thanks for reading.
