First Impressions: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

When I think of Bourjois the first thing that comes to mind is their healthy mix range. Their range is most famous because of their foundation, which is a blogger favourite. So I couldn't wait to try it out for myself, along with the matching concealer, to really see what my thoughts were on it. Will I love it as much as everyone else?

As I was approaching the counter I noticed that there wasn't much difference in price between the foundation and concealer, considering one has distinctively less product inside. Their Healthy Mix Foundation retails for £9.99 with 1floz whereas their Healthy Mix Concealer is £8.99 for 0.26 floz, quite a contrast.

The packaging for both the foundation and concealer is pretty basic yet original with transparent glass bottles for the bulk and red plastic lids. The foundation comes with a good pump whilst the concealer has a doe-foot applicator which I prefer in a concealer.

As for the shades, it is a strange one because on first glance when you swatch them and apply them to your face both of them come across very yellow toned. However, once you get blending the yellowness fades away out into a lovely healthy shade. For reference, the foundation I've got is in N.51 Light Vanilla and the concealer is 51 Light.

When I first pumped the foundation out onto my finger it was quite liquidy and runny which made it super easy to blend out onto my skin. Once on it feels lightweight and you have the ability to build it up from a light to a medium coverage, two to three pumps gave me my desired look. It leaves you with a natural, slightly glowing base, although I did find that it didn't cover any blemishes or redness that I had on my cheeks. As for the concealer, you get quite a lot of product off from one application of the doe-foot, sometimes even too much! The concealer did a nice job at highlighting and brightening underneath the eyes, however, it didn't add any additional coverage where the redness was on my cheeks which is a shame.

Wear Test:
I have worn both of these together a few times now but the one test that I recall to say all was when I went on a three-mile walk on a sunny yet cold day. Due to being sweaty from all the exercise, where I was touching my upper lip a lot, the foundation came off pretty quickly in that area. But, my highlight and bronzer both stayed on looking as fresh as when I first applied them which was surprising. If you were going about your normal day to day activities with no sweaty business then this foundation would easily last you around six to seven hours on the skin until any flaws appear.

Overall Thoughts:
I do quite like the way that the foundation looks on my skin and it lives up to its 'healthy' name. As for the concealer, I'm not too sure about it as it didn't add much additional coverage to my base which is what I normally look for in a concealer. I would say that the foundation is a good option for anyone looking for a lighter coverage foundation now that we're coming into the summer months. One thing I would say is that you shouldn't pair it with Becca's Backlight Priming Filter because those two are not a match made in heaven, trust me!

So does it live up to what everyone says? Only time will tell! I can definitely see myself wearing the foundation more often but, I'll just have to keep trying the concealer out. Have you tried this range before and what were your thoughts on it? Thanks for reading.
