At the start of the year, I made a conscious effort to carry on enjoying reading books and recently I read three books that are completely different in genres, but I loved them all equally as much!
Stacey Dooley On The Front Line With The Women Who Fight Back
I purchased this book after listening to one of her interviews as I was so intrigued by all of the places shes been to and the situations that she has faced along the way. This book was such an eye-opener to the struggles that these women face all over the world and it makes you feel so privileged to be in the position you are in. Some of these women are dangerously crossing borders for hope at the other end, whilst others had suffered child abuse and there were tellings from the Yazidi women. You sort of know this stuff is happening but not to the extent it is and when you read about it it really makes you think. It's a fascinating book that gives you a real insight into what these women are doing each day.
Single For The Summer by Mandy Baggot
This is the ultimate feel-good, easy reading rom-com that you whizz through within a few days. It's about two friends who both have faults in their love lives and decide to ditch their men and go away on holiday together to escape everything from back home. But, what they didn't realise was that they would have to lead a whole new life out in Corfu after bumping into Greek restaurant owner Andreas, who pretends that he and Tess are in a relationship after meeting earlier that day. At first, what was just a getaway holiday, turns into something a lot more special for everyone involved! I utterly loved this book, I kind of did expect the ending but at the same time didn't but it made me so happy.
The Silent Hour by Michael Koryta
It was only when I was logging this as read on Goodreads that I realised that this was the fourth book in the series, but saying that it was a great stand-alone read as I didn't read the others beforehand. I read this book whilst I was on holiday and I flew through it, I was totally invested in this detective book. It's all about a couple that went missing years and years ago but the case gets brought up twelve years later and Lincoln gets dragged into helping with the case after stopping investigation work a while back. Will Lincoln be the answer to getting to the bottom of this case or will they figure it out without him, or will it go unsolved for another twelve years?
I loved all three of these books and would highly recommend them all! If you want to find out what I'm currently reading them be sure to follow me over on GoodReads where I track all of my reading. What books are you currently reading and loving? Thanks for reading,
