The Reading Habits Tag

I originally watched Noelle do this tag over on her youtube channel and felt inspired to answer the questions myself!

Q1) Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I've recently been reading a lot in the bath as it's so peaceful and the lighting in the bathroom is perfect for reading! But in the summer I tend to sit on the sofa as the natural light from the sun creates for a calm reading environment.

Q2) Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I've had the same bookmark that I bought years back at a primary school sale! It's a basic paper bookmark that I've kept in good condition. However, when I'm reading an informative/factual book I tend to use a scrap piece of paper that I use as a placemat for my coffee in the morning!

Q3) Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter / a certain amount of pages?
When I'm reading a book and the chapters are particularly long I can stop at the end of a paragraph, but not when it's in the middle of the action! In turn, this eliminates a certain amount of pages option, it's an interesting one; I'd love to know what you can do.

Q4) Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
I'll either have some water or a coffee at hand whilst reading, but I can't think of a time where I've ever been eating whilst reading! Are there people out there who are having a three-course meal whilst reading?!

Q5) Multitasking: Music or TV whilst reading?
No, no, no, no, no! I for one cannot concentrate on the book if there are distractions around me. I have had the TV on before and always found myself peeping over the book to look at what was happening!

Q6) One book at a time or several at once?
I've always read just one book at a time. I know lots of people who do read a couple/handful of books at the same time, but I know I'd get confused between the storylines and not be fully invested in both/all of the books!

Q7) Reading at home or everywhere?
Pre-pandemic my answer would be everywhere! The only place I can't read is when I'm travelling in a car or bus, however, on a plane is fine.

Q8) Reading out loud or silently in your head?
This is an obvious one, isn't it? It has to be silently in your head! Granted if I can't make sense of a sentence I may read it out loud to try and understand it better, but not an entire book!

Q9) Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
No, the only thing I read before starting the book is the synopsis. Reading ahead or skipping pages to me seems totally pointless.

Q10) Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I am the complete opposite to Noelle in this sense as I try to keep my books in a like-new condition for as long as possible! If the book doesn't leave a lasting impression on me I tend to pass it on to someone else or give it to charity, which is one of the main reasons as to why I like to keep them in good condition.

Q11) Do you write in your books?
This sort of follows on from the previous question and no, I don't write in my books for the reason mentioned above!

There we have it, those are all of the questions in the reading habits tag. Are your answers completely different to mine or do you relate to them and have similar responses? If you recreate this tag be sure to let me know so I can have a read of your answers! Thanks for reading,
